Cultural and Educational Activity
Cultural and educational activity in Belarus is in the hands of 2,505 clubs and auto clubs. In 2019, clubs held more than 500,000 events. Fourteen festivals and contests of folk arts with the status ‘national’ or ‘international’ took place in Belarus.
More cultural activities are now held in the regions that started to stage cultural events with a local flavor. The year 2019 saw the debut of such events as the international potters’ plein air in the village of Kopys, Orsha District (the village has been the center of artistic and decorative ceramics for centuries) and the 1st National Festival Competition of Circus Groups in Orsha. In 2019, the Budslau Fest in Myadel District was held under the auspices of UNESCO for the first time.
