Trade

Trade is one of the most important economic sectors. It contributes significantly to the country's GDP: its share in 2019 was 9.4% (second only to manufacturing).

In recent years, there has been a steady trend of retail volume growth. In 2019, it amounted to 4.5% (or Br49.6 billion) in comparable prices. This growth is due to an increase in the population's income, as well as the constant development of trade and infrastructure improvements. According to statistics, there are more than 65,000 retail outlets in Belarus. Their number has increased by more than 10,000 over five years.

The Republic of Belarus has a well-developed trade infrastructure. Along with the opening of convenience stores, construction of retail outlets continues. There are more and more modern shops (hyper- and supermarkets) and multifunctional shopping centers with shops, food courts and other facilities.
