Belarus’ Initiatives in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization

Belarus’ Initiatives in the SCO

At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summits in Qingdao (on 9-10 June 2018) and Bishkek (on 13-14 June 2019), Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of Belarus put forward a number of initiatives to develop the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. These initiatives include ensuring food safety of the SCO, organizing an Agro-SCO exposition at the Belagro international forum of farmers, developing the SCO IT ecosystem, strengthening nuclear safety and promoting peaceful uses of nuclear energy.

Within the framework of these initiatives, the SCO participants are invited to use the opportunities offered by Belarus as a country with the traditionally strong agricultural sector, high-tech industry, intellectual base and agricultural engineering to strengthen food safety, nuclear and cyber security of the SCO member states and the region in general.

Coordinated steps in this direction will also strengthen cooperation and make national economies more competitive in a global world.
