Education and science

  • "Education is the foundation of the society, a pass for the state and the whole nation to the future."

  • "You know my approaches to the transformation, modernization, and reformation of the education system. The point is that I strongly oppose any radical reforms. I have always been in favor of the improvement of one process or another. We should be answering the questions the life puts before us. Education is such a complicated process. We cannot just demolish the system and build it up anew."

Plenary session of the Nationwide Teaching Conference, 24 August 2017
  • "Vigorous development of the Internet, information and communication technologies open up brilliant prospects for Belarus. The intellect of our people and our youth has already started generating tangible profits for the country. In the future this industry may become and should become one of the mainstays of the national economy."

Address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly, 8 May 2012
  • "There are no countries with strong science and weak industry and vice versa. Information technologies are used everywhere. Robotic technologies are introduced in the manufacturing sector and agriculture. IT platforms put pressure on conventional shops, while the blockchain technology does the same for finance. Artificial intelligence replaces people in everyday life more and more often. All of these we see developing in Belarus. Scientists in other countries are just dreaming about it and learning these terms. These are not just dreams in Belarus. We should act and make progress instead of just being satisfied with what has already been achieved. But if we want to avoid mistakes, we should cooperate with scientists, or, perhaps, these scientists should be one step ahead of us."
