Aleksandr Lukashenko approves new fire safety requirements for specific premises

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed the decree ‘On fire safety’ on 25 June.

The document approves new general fire safety requirements for the maintenance and operation of permanent structures (buildings, facilities), isolated premises and other properties owned by business entities. Excessive and outdated requirements concerning the maintenance of buildings, fire safety and firefighting systems, technological processes and record-keeping are abolished.

In addition, the Safe Industrial Practices Department of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry (Gospromnadzor) is granted authority to supervise legal entities engaged in the production of explosives and explosive-containing products, including their manufacture, storage, transportation and disposal. The measure is intended to streamline industrial safety oversight and eliminate excessive regulatory pressure on businesses.

The decree assigns the Ministry for Emergency Situations the function of coordinating the activities of the youth organization of rescuers and firefighters.
