Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko took part in the 2nd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.

"Unfortunately, the platforms hosting open, constructive expert discussions on the topic of international security are few and far between today. We badly need an honest conversation and impartial assessment of the current events," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

According to him, organization and conduct of such a conference is almost an incredible feat today. "Effective measures to counter modern challenges and threats are needed even more. If we fail to join forces in this regard and if we fail to design and implement these measures, trouble will come," the head of state is convinced.

According to the President, the first conference on Eurasian security, held in Minsk in 2023, surprised even the most ardent skeptics, who doubted that it was possible to gather representatives of both the West and the East in such a turbulent time. Its outcome was a draft Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity in the 21st Century, work on which will continue during the current conference.

“The document should accelerate the processes of political, economic and other consolidation in order to ensure security, strategic stability and progressive development of our countries and peoples. We see this document as comprehensive and all-encompassing, without reference to a specific region, to facilitate the formation of a consensus in the field of security,” the head of state stressed.

Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed gratitude to all those who accepted Belarus’ invitation to take part in the conference. “It is in our interests, in everyone’s interests. There are many more participants today, which is not surprising, as the situation is becoming more critical and tense,” he said. “I very much hope that such a representative circle of authoritative experts participating in the current conference will not only discuss the problems (they are well known) but will also be able to offer options for their solution.”

“As a rule, when speaking about security, we mean guarantees against encroachment on a nation’s territory. However, comprehensive security by definition should include guarantees not only in the military field, but also in the political, economic, information and other spheres. If we look at it from this perspective, the scale of the crisis that has engulfed the planet becomes obvious,” noted Aleksandr Lukashenko.
