Three State Prizes in Science and Technology are awarded by the President of the Republic of Belarus once in two years (every even year).

The State Prize in Science and Technology is bestowed upon citizens of the Republic of Belarus for outstanding works, discoveries and scientific achievements that have made an essential contribution to the national and world science and technology, have had a huge influence on the scientific and technical progress and economic efficiency and the promotion of healthcare and environmental protection.

Main results of such works have to be obtained and published while their practical application (the introduction of technologies, batch manufacturing of products) has to be implemented at least two years prior to the deadline for submitting entries to the State Prizes Committee of the Republic of Belarus.

The nomination of works for the State Prize is carried out at sessions of collegial bodies, presidiums, secretariats of boards, scientific and technical councils or at personnel meetings.
