Belarus' Initiatives Supported by the Other CIS Member States in Bishkek
The initiatives articulated by Belarus were supported by the other CIS member states during the CIS summit on 10 October in Bishkek. This is one of the important results of the meeting of the CIS Heads of State attended by the presidents of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Azerbaijan was represented by the Prime Minister, Ukraine by the Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council.

President Alexander Lukashenko Elected Chairman of the Interstate Council of the Eurasian Economic Community
The President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has been elected Chairman of the Interstate Council of the Eurasian Economic Community. The decision to this effect was taken unanimously on 10 October at the EurAsEC summit in Bishkek. In accordance with the EurAsEC principles, the heads of the Community change on the yearly basis, following the principle of rotating presidency.
