Alexander Lukashenko remarked that he often has to answer the question of what will happen to the Union State of Belarus and Russia in view of the launch of the Eurasian Economic Union. “I speak directly: if our cooperation with Russia in the Eurasian Economic Union reaches the level we enjoy within the framework of the bilateral agreement, then we will not have to keep the two structures at the same time. But for now we have neither the political component, nor the diplomatic one, nor the military one within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union. It should remain a kind of a reference point for other integration associations,” the Belarusian leader said.
