Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko visited new school No.93 in Minsk on the first day of the 2019/2020 academic year, 2 September.

Greeting students, teachers and parents, the head of state stressed that the place, where the new school was built, brings back his personal memories. “By your applause I have understood that you greet me as a person well-aware of the area. I was happy to drive along the streets I used to walk along during my army years. I was glad to return to this place after all those years. The district has changed a lot. The elder generation will agree with me,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

Inaugurating the new educational institution, the head of state stressed: “Today is a special day for us all, and especially for school students and their parents. A new academic year is kicking off today. This year is the first one in the history of the school we are opening today. Here everything happens for the first time: the first bell, the first lessons, the first acquaintance between students and teachers. This year will begin the record of many school years ahead. You will enter the history of this school as the first ones.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko added that the new school is a present to the residential district Veliky Les, named as a tribute to the heroes that defended their land during the Great Patriotic War.

“Dear children, many of your parents, swearing allegiance to the Motherland, continue their glorious history under a peaceful sky,” the President said. He wished the historical memory as well as present-day successes and achievements of students and teachers of the new school to be part of its heritage and a commendable example to follow.

Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed the school students: “A new academic year is kicking off. We, adults, always sincerely wish it to be interesting, successful and informative. It will surely be like this if everyone of you will understand the value of the knowledge the school gives.” The head of state also emphasized the value of students’ interaction with teachers whose rich expertise and skills will help them discover abilities and bring their talents to light. “Diligence of everyone will guarantee a successful future,” he added.

The President said that school years are just children’s first steps into the world of knowledge. They primarily need support and amicable engagement of their teachers. The head of state expressed confidence that parents and teachers will go hand in hand in guiding the children along such a difficult and important path.

“I would like this new building to become a true school of knowledge and friendship, where mutual respect and need for achievement will prevail. I would like to wish strong health and inexhaustible energy to all of you, the aim for high results to students, the faith in their children to parents, and the pride for achievements of their students to teachers,” the President of Belarus said.

The head of state was given a symbolic key to the new school, which he handed to Director of school No.93 Oksana Tsimbalenko. The ribbon was cut by the head of state, Minsk Mayor Anatoly Sivak and the director of the school.
