Everything necessary will be done in Belarus to ensure the security of Belarusian families, the nation and the state. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement at the event held on 24 October to mark the 20th  anniversary of the foundation of the Belarus President Security Service.

Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that the Security Service of the Belarusian President which was founded 20 years ago has taken a worthy place in the Belarusian law enforcement system. The President stressed that special attention was paid to the establishment and development of this organization as the Security Service solves versatile, complicated and responsible tasks.

“The service changed its name and also the approaches to the choice of activities, had different leaders. Step by step the Security Service has acquired its form, improved methods of work, accumulated experience in the resolution of responsible tasks, hired new workers for whom the organization was a true school of professional excellence,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.

The head of state emphasized that the Security Service applies the highest standards to the personnel. Its workers should be highly trained and psychologically stable. Taking care of the integrity of workers is a most important task of not only high-ranking officials but also of the entire personnel, the President stressed.

In the modern-day conditions new challenges to the national security necessitate well-thought-out approaches, firmness and discipline in addressing current tasks. “One of the biggest challenges confronted by the Security Service, among other agencies, is the spread of terrorism that recognizes no geographical borders, political systems and moral values,” the Belarusian President underlined.

He emphasized that “in their attempt to assassinate individual officials, terrorists do not hesitate to organize and conduct their campaigns in crowded places, which results in dozens and hundreds of victims”.

“Unfortunately, Belarus is no exception. We still remember the abominable Independence Day explosions in 2008 and the Minsk metro bombing in 2011. Taking this into consideration, your organization in cooperation with state security agencies should pay special attention to the organization and conduct of large-scale cultural and sports events. You should be vigilant every day and everywhere,” the President said.

The world does not stand still. Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that technical solutions and information systems with sophisticated properties and features are becoming more common. However, these technical advances are not always used for good. They can be harnessed by aggressive and destructive organizations to be used in their undermining activities.

In this connection the Belarusian President urged to ensure high-quality and efficient technical support of events attended by guarded officials. The search for explosive devices and tools used for unauthorized gathering of information is a most important task requiring constant improvement of qualifications of all units. Aleksandr Lukashenko believes that the efficient work implies an ability to identify the signs of an imminent crime and to prevent tragic events. “This prompts you to stay in the know about what is going on, analyze the consequences of changes in the situation and promptly work out efficient measures of response. One should not work blindly and catch up the train that is already gone. The level of your professionalism is measures by your ability to efficiently foresee negative developments and their consequences,” the head of state said.

Reviewing the work of the President’s Security Service over the past 20 years, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that all its subdivisions fulfill their tasks. Officers of the Presidential Security Service of Belarus have been named among the best in the post-Soviet space. “The invariably high results demonstrated by the officers at different national and international competitions prove the high level of their professionalism,” Belarus President said. He noted that the Belarusian team became first at the world all-around bodyguard championship in Yalta in 2011 and the international bodyguard championship in Romania in 2013. “In this connection I believe that members of the team absolutely deserve the title of International Master of Sports,” the head of state said.

“There is no doubt that the personnel of the Security Service is able to solve professionally the problems of any complexity, even those that are insurmountable to other agencies. However, I want to say right away: that is no reason to rest on your laurels and be satisfied with what has already been achieved. By no means should we lower the requirements regarding individual and professional qualities of the officers and candidates for service,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.

The President of Belarus deems it necessary to study, develop and apply new methods to expose and prevent threats to the security of protected individuals and facilities using the best international practices. Aleksandr Lukashenko said that it is also needed to improve the material and technical infrastructure, expand the engineering and technical potential in order to fulfil service and military tasks. The President stressed that every worker should have such qualities as the loyalty to the Belarusian people and the Fatherland. “Commitment to obligations, readiness to take the heat are a moral foundation for true professionals, men of honor and men of duty,” the head of state remarked.

He also thanked veterans of the Security Service. “Their devotion to work, patriotism, decency and professionalism are high standards of service to the Fatherland,” the President emphasized. In his opinion, this moral principle should a guideline for the current generation of workers who must be honest and flawless in their service, must work for people and in the best interests of people.

Addressing officers of the security service, the head of state underlined: “You stand close to the president, whose sacred duty is to inspire people for kindness, tenacity and courage. You do the same with your actions, deeds and attitudes. Don’t forget about it even for a minute. And remember you have no right to make errors or to behave improperly. We should be an example not only for the military but for the entire society”.

“Don’t forget that even today, on the day of celebration we are on duty, ensuring the security of our state,” noted Aleksandr Lukashenko.

The President assured: “Our borders are inviolable and our nation can sleep a peaceful sleep”.
