When approving the appointment of local executives, the President pointed out the importance of the forthcoming spring sowing campaign and added that the spring sowing should not be delayed.
“I understand that this year we have a special situation with the sowing. There was no snow this winter. Yet, there is enough moisture in the soil. The winter was rainy, not snowy, especially at the end of the winter season. But still the moisture levels are lower than usual. Therefore it is very important to sow grain crops as quickly as possible,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.
"If there is risk that we will not be able to save the crops or get small harvests due to frosts or damp weather we need to act more decisively. We cannot lose the harvest. We cannot have the harvest below the level of last year. It was good last year," he said. In 2014 Belarus collected more than 10 million tonnes of grain and corn. "We must maintain that level at any cost. We cannot allow delays in the spring planting campaign," the head of state believes.
Aleksandr Lukashenko asked heads of the Gomel Oblast districts about the progress in the spring sowing campaign in the south of Belarus and about the problems that have emerged at its beginning. The President urged to pay special attention to farming standards. “You will be responsible for these issues. I have warned all the governors. Every piece of arable land should be under crops,” the head of state stressed.
“You should also make farmstead owners clean up their farms, plough up all the land, pull all weeds because they do not do good to farmland or public places,” the head of state said.
“You must clean up streets, private farmsteads and big farms, agrotowns and villages. It has to be done before Victory Day. All towns, distinct capitals, farming facilities, population centers should be in the ideal condition,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.
Appointing the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Moldova, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that Belarus and Moldova have very good relations.
“Moldova has chosen its path, and we must respect it. It would be difficult for Moldova to choose a different way,” the Belarusian head of state noted.
“Its close contacts with present-day Ukraine, with Western states which provide support to this country are a fact. We must take this fact into account to build our relations with this good republic, to expand relations, look for mutually beneficial contacts. But I would like to stress once again that the situation there, including the economic situation, is not easy,” the Belarusian leader said.
Approving the appointment of the new head of OAO Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (MZKT trademark), Aleksandr Lukashenko gave an instruction to preserve the company.
Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that MZKT is a good enterprise, with many taking a close interest in the company. “But it is a state-run company. I would like it to stay state-owned. But to do this you will have to reach for new markets without losing the old ones,” the head of state said.
“No need to toy with prices. The state has evaluated the enterprise. If you pay the price, you will get the shares. If you don’t have the money, you can say goodbye. Keep in mind that just like any other executive you have to preserve the company instead of selling it, privatizing it or doing something else. It is a people’s enterprise,” Aleksandr Lukashenko continued.
“The products MZKT makes sell well on foreign markets, particularly defense products. You can see the situation in the world. Today all the countries bear in mind their defense capability,” the head of state added.
“But preserving the team of employees and the enterprise is the key task,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
Approving the appointment of the new rector of the Vitebsk State Medical University, Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that university rectors need to step up the efficiency of work and to maintain productive dialogue with the youth.
