|The Hero of Belarus Medal|
The Hero of Belarus title is the highest award of the nation which is presented in recognition of outstanding services to the state and the people associated with the feat accomplished in the name of freedom, independence, and prosperity of the Republic of Belarus.
The title was instituted by the law “Concerning the State Awards of the Republic of Belarus” of 13 April 1995. The Hero of Belarus title can only be awarded once to an individual. The Hero of Belarus title can be awarded posthumously. The title can be bestowed upon citizens of Belarus, foreign nationals and stateless persons.
Recipients of the title are also given medals of the Hero of Belarus.
The Hero of Belarus Medal is worn on the left side of the chest above all other medals and decorations.
So far the Hero of Belarus title has been bestowed upon eleven citizens of the Republic of Belarus.
The Hero of Belarus Medal is a five-pointed star with smooth polyhedral rays on the obverse. The star is inscribed inside a circle with the diameter of 33mm. The plain reverse of the medal bears the serial number of the award in the center.
The medal is attached to an oblong bar by a ring. In the center of the medal bar there is a red and green moire ribbon.
The medal and the bar are made of 585 gold, with the decoration weighing 19g.

The State Prize is awarded to one applicant or group of applicants consisting of no more than three people at the most. The group of applicants for the State Prize cannot include persons, who performed purely administrative, consultative, or organizational functions, during the fulfillment of the work.
The State Prizes Committee of the Republic of Belarus is responsible for working out proposals regarding the conferment of the State Prize of the Republic of Belarus. The committee then submits these proposals to the President of the Republic of Belarus.
The Committee is accountable to the President of the Republic of Belarus.
The Committee consists of the Presidium, the subcommittee on state prizes in science and technology, and the subcommittee on state prizes in literature, art, and architecture.
The Presidium is led by the chairman and two heads of the subcommittees.
The Committee comprises outstanding scientists, renowned researchers, masters of literature and art, great architects. The membership of the Committee and the two subcommittees is approved by the President of the Republic of Belarus.
A recipient of the State Prize is awarded the State Prize winner title, a badge of honor of the State Prize winner and a diploma of the State Prize winner.
Prizes of the President of the Republic of Belarus are bestowed upon creative figures, scientists, masters of culture and art who have reached considerable results in creative, cultural, educational work, have won recognition of the general public. The prizes are also conferred on the athletes who have made a huge contribution to the development of the mass sports movement.
