Belarus is interested in Russia’s best practices in education. They will be also used to develop the efficient national system of personnel training, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Russia President Vladimir Putin to discuss humanitarian cooperation on 15 February.
The meeting is taking place at the Sirius Education Center in Sochi. The center’s goal is to reveal talents at an early age, develop them and provide further professional support to talented children in art, sport, natural sciences and creativity.
“Today we are ready to open a technology park similar to Sirius,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “The experience of Sirius in revealing talents is very important for us. Of course, it is also a good example in terms of programs, education and accommodation for young people. Russia has gone a very interesting path, and this path is important for us. We will use it as an example. We should adopt all the best practices that we can see here.”
The head of state remarked that Belarusian citizens also study in Sirius, and their experience should be also used to develop a similar technology park in Belarus. “Of course, it should not be closed for Russians,” the president said.
On the whole, Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that the trade and economic dimension often comes to the forefront in the Belarusian-Russian relations, while the humanitarian field stands aside. “But it does not mean that we do not have achievements in this field,” he said.
The president emphasized that Belarusians and Russians take an active part in various cultural, sports and other events on the territory of the two countries.
