Participation in Victory Day celebrations

On 9 May 1998 Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko took part in a commemorative procession and a ceremony to lay wreaths at the monument in Victory Square. Attending the event were also veterans of the Great Patriotic War, representatives of the government and the parliament, government bodies, public and religious organizations, and the diplomatic corps.

Addressing those present, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that the young Belarusian state would do its utmost to preserve the country and give people an opportunity to live and work in peace.
