Second All-Belarus People’s Congress

The second All-Belarus People’s Congress was held in the Palace of the Republic in Minsk on 18 May 2001. Head of state Aleksandr Lukashenko delivered the report “For Strong and Prosperous Belarus”. In his speech, he outlined the main achievements in the country's development over the past five years. Belarus turned into an independent and self-sufficient state. “We have chosen the path of evolutionary transformations, and it has proved its worth,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said in his speech.

The delegates adopted the main provisions of Belarus’ social and economic development program for 2001-2005. The five-year priorities included the improvement of people's welfare, housing construction and export development.
