Telephone conversation between Aleksandr Lukashenko, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani

    On 15 June President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko had a telephone conversation with President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on the initiative of the Afghan side.

    The sides discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between the two countries. The Afghanistan president praised Belarus’ achievements in the economic and political construction, expressed eagerness to promote relations with Belarus.

    The heads of state also discussed the situation in Central Asia. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani noted that his country is committed to the fight against terrorism and makes a big contribution to the global anti-terrorism campaign. Aleksandr Lukashenko said that the fight against terrorism is a common priority for the entire global community and that it is essential to join efforts to eradicate this evil.

    In order to give a boost to the bilateral relations the heads of state agreed to step up interstate contacts in various areas.

    Aleksandr Lukashenko invited the Afghanistan leader to visit Belarus in the near future. The invitation was gratefully accepted.
