Telephone conversation between Aleksandr Lukashenko and Alexander Turchinov

An urgent phone conversation between Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Acting President of Ukraine Alexander Turchinov due to the situation in Ukraine took place in the evening on 24 April.

The Acting President of Ukraine informed the Belarusian head of state about the current events in detail. According to Alexander Turchinov, the town of Slavyansk  was his particular concern. He said that the main base of armed terrorists is now in the town. Therefore, an antiterrorism operation is being carried out over there. Alexander Turchinov said that five terrorists, who had fired on units of the Ukrainian army, had been killed in the course of the operation.
