Report by Interior Minister Igor Shunevich
On 17 July Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko heard out a report from Interior Minister Igor Shunevich upon the latter’s request.
The head of state was informed about the fulfillment of his instructions to reform the Interior Ministry. The reform is virtually finished. The personnel structure and numbers have been optimized, a number of rudimentary subdivisions have been closed. The released resources have been used to develop the Ministry, pay better salaries to the personnel and improve the physical infrastructure. Apart from that, the entire range of the Interior Ministry’s functions has been revised, with extrinsic ones discontinued.
Aleksandr Lukashenko gave instructions to continue optimizing the Interior Ministry, including the personnel component and the functions. Relevant concrete proposals will be submitted to the head of state soon.
Apart from that, the President was informed about some operational data the Interior Ministry is working on, including the state of affairs with regard to crackdown on organized crime and corruption.
