Working trip to Vitebsk

On 12 July 2003 Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko took part in the opening ceremony of the 12th edition of the International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk. The head of state pointed out that the festival was one of the largest cultural projects in Europe. Its blend of the high ideas of unity, peace, and friendship made it a unique cultural phenomenon.

According to the president, the Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk owes its success to its noble ideas, the main of which is the unity of Slavic nations. The festival is centered around the idea of peace and friendship. The president noted that the festival in Vitebsk would be inspired by the memory of a great musician and person Vladimir Mulyavin. A special award named after him was to be presented at the festival.

On that day, Aleksandr Lukashenko also visited the Vitebsk Central Sports Complex. The president was informed about the introduction of social standards, social and consumer services for the population, and the landscaping work in the region.
