Working trip to Brest Oblast: Visits to military bases and units of the Air Force

On 25 September 1998 Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko visited the 61st fighter aviation base in Baranovichi. The head of state got familiar with the operation of the command and control center and examined combat readiness of the alert crew. The president also toured the exposition of military aircraft, got aboard a Sukhoi Su-27 fighter jet, a Mi-26 heavy transport helicopter, and an Ilyushin Il-76 airlifter designed to deliver paratroopers and heavy machinery to remote areas. Then pilots demonstrated operational capabilities of the Sukhoi Su-27 and the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-25 aircraft.
On the same day, the head of state visited the aviation repair plant in Baranovichi and attended an air force exercise.
