Passover greetings to Belarusian Jewish community

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has wished a Happy Passover to the Jewish community in Belarus on 15 April.

“This holiday, with its roots in antiquity, symbolizes spiritual liberation. It is a link between the past, present and future for the Jewish people. Several thousand years ago the entire nation, having overcome all hardships with dignity, gained its land and to this day keeps faithfulness to the moral values and traditions of the ancestors,” the message of greetings reads.

According to the Belarusian head of state, Jewish history and culture have been inseparably linked to Belarus for many centuries. “Today the Jewish community as part of the multinational and multi-confessional Belarusian family makes a significant contribution to the development of interfaith dialogue, maintaining an atmosphere of mutual understanding and tolerance in our country,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
