Belarus’ Independence Day greetings

    Dear Belarusians!

Please accept my best wishes to you on Independence Day.

The country’s main holiday represents the centuries-old struggle of Belarusians for freedom, for the right to live on their native land.

It is deeply symbolic that Belarus celebrates Independence Day on the day when its capital was liberated from the Nazi invaders. During the Great Patriotic War, millions of Belarusian men and women sacrificed their lives to defend our future. This bitter experience has taught us to value peace and national unity, and to fight for statehood.

Belarusians always drew strength from the spiritual heritage of their ancestors, from their hard work and dedication. We need to be worthy descendants of many generations of patriots, achievers and winners. We are also responsible for generations to come.

I am sure that only by carefully preserving the memory of heroes and multiplying what has been achieved, Belarusians will be able to retain their land and determine their own destiny.

    Happy Independence Day, dear friends!

I wish you good health, peace and new achievements for the benefit of dear Belarus!

    Aleksandr Lukashenko
