Talks with Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev

On 22 May 2000, Minsk hosted talks between Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev who came to Belarus on an official visit. The heads of state reviewed the status of implementation of bilateral agreements under the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation. The presidents pointed out the need for harmonized activities within international organizations to serve mutual strategic interests and avoid activities that could harm the countries’ international standing. The agenda of the talks also included cooperation in environmental protection, culture, sport, and training of specialists. Several agreements were signed following the talks.
