Negotiations with China President Jiang Zemin

On 19 July 2001 Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with President of the People’s Republic of China Jiang Zemin, who had arrived in Minsk the day before on a two-day state visit.

One-on-one talks and negotiations involving the delegations took place in the working residence of the Belarusian head of state. The sides discussed the fulfillment of the agreements previously reached during Aleksandr Lukashenko’s visit to China, sketched out ways to bolster strategic partnership of the two countries and enhance trade and economic ties.

During the talks Jiang Zemin expressed a positive opinion of the state of Belarus-China cooperation and expressed confidence in good prospects of long-term cooperation.
