Opening of the indoor football arena in Minsk

On 26 December 2002 Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko attended the opening ceremony of the indoor football arena in Minsk.

The head of state remarked that the country will continue building sports facilities to promote a healthy lifestyle among the young generation, develop and popularize sports and active leisure in the Belarusian society. The president stressed that all conditions were in place in Belarus for all-the-year-round training of football players.

Aleksandr Lukashenko also responded to some critics  that he was paying too much attention to sport. “Although such projects are not cheap, we will continue building sports facilities in our country. We will do our best to take care of the health and beauty of our youth.”
