Opening of the House of Mercy in Minsk

On 19 May 2002 Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko attended the opening of the House of Mercy in Minsk. The construction of such a facility is a testimony to the unity of the church and the state in helping people, the head of state said.

He expressed confidence that the House of Mercy will become not only a place of social care, but also a place for spiritual and moral education of children and the youth, a spiritual beacon where Christian philanthropy will manifest itself in full force.
