Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko welcomed the eagerness of young people to work and take the initiative. The head of state made this statement when speaking at the National Ball for University Graduates.
“I see the eagerness of young generation to work productively and take the initiative. I welcome this. After all, it will be you who will harness new technologies, develop manufactures and services industry, raise the Belarusian culture and science to the leading positions in the world,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The President noted that the graduates have a very important stage of professional development ahead of them. It will be a test of what they have learned and how they will use their knowledge in practice. “From now on it will be not grades in your students’ record books that will determine your success but your labor achievements,” the Belarusian leader said.
It is symbolic that the graduates begin their professional careers in the first year of a new five-year plan, of which the country has high expectations, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted. The state relies on young people. “Therefore, youth policy is listed as one of the key priorities in the social and economic development program for 2016-2020 which was recently adopted,” the head of state said.
“The time that we are living in now is difficult because, as we often say, a new repartition of the world has begun. The new world order is setting in,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. New states are seeking to take leading positions and places under the sun while these places have already been taken. Hence are local conflicts. The main thing today is to save the country, save the world from a global war.” The Belarusian leader assuredthat the state will continue to pay special attention to defense and security. “With peace in the country, we will be able solve all our problems and achieve those goals that we have set,” the head of state noted.
During the National Ball of University Graduates Aleksandr Lukashenko presented state awards to professors and rectors of some universities in recognition of many-year fruitful work, big achievements in the professional activity, considerable personal contribution to training of highly qualified specialists. Some professors and students received official letters of thanks.
