Belarus is ready to share its best practices in the maintenance of security and public order with Vietnam, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Vietnam Minister of Public Security To Lam on 2 March.

The head of state remarked that Vietnam is a vigorously developing Asian country. “Over the past ten years, we have created the material foundation and the basis of our relations, increased the bilateral trade three times. Moreover, we have outlined a serious roadmap for the development of our relations. It makes Vietnam one of Belarus’ priority partners in Southeast Asia,” the President said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that stability and security which are the main areas of focus for law enforcement agencies are among the major factors of Vietnam’s vigorous development. “I want to assure you that we will do our best to help Vietnam be a stable and safe country. We are ready to share our best practices with our friends in Vietnam. You should know that the Belarusian government and I personally will provide comprehensive assistance in this field,” he said.

The head of state pointed out the importance of personnel training. “If you are satisfied with the Belarusian system of personnel training, we are ready to do our best to help you introduce the system in general or certain elements of it in Vietnam,” the President said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko deems it necessary to ensure the free movement of people from Vietnam to Belarus and vice versa. “At the same time, we must stop bad people and join our efforts in the fight against crimes, drug trafficking, terrorism. We have certain experience. If you need it, we can share it with you,” he said.

The President mentioned the fact that the meeting takes place in the run-up to the 100thanniversary of Belarusian police. “We have a very good foundation of relations. We have experienced a lot together with Vietnam, fought together for the freedom and independence of your nation. We have done a lot for the development of your state. There were many Belarusians among those Soviet people,” the head of state said.

“We are your friends; you can feel at home in Belarus. I want you to know that we will always support the Vietnamese people and you personally,” the Belarusian leader added.

To Lam, in turn, thanked the Belarusian President for the meeting and conveyed greetings from the leadership of Vietnam. He also remarked that this year the countries will mark the 25thanniversary of diplomatic relations and praised the positive effect from the previous top-level visits.
