Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Viktor Medvedchuk, a Ukrainian politician, the head of the political council of the political party Opposition Platform – For Life, on 4 April.
Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked he was glad to meet with Viktor Medvedchuk, particularly in the wake of hot political events in Ukraine. “I am interested in your opinion of what we should expect from Ukraine in the future. It is very important for me, maybe as important as it is for you, this is why your thoughts about this matter and other ones are very interesting,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
In turn, Viktor Medvedchuk said that in the morning before the meeting with the Belarusian head of state he joked that unlike all the other citizens of Ukraine he had a unique chance of learning precisely now who would win the presidential election in the second round on 21 April. “I remember your press conference on 1 March 2019 [the Big Conversation with the President] where you were asked the question and you were analyzing what might happen,” the politician explained.
Viktor Medvedchuk reminded that back then the Belarus President predicted that Petro Poroshenko and Volodymyr Zelensky will reach the second round of the election. “I would like to tell you that on 1 March no expert, no sociologist, no politician of ours could say precisely who will reach the second round,” he remarked.
