Meeting with Chairman of House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko

On 28 March Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko.
The meeting focused on the preparations for the forthcoming parliamentary election. Aleksandr Lukashenko said that the current MPs should take an active part in these preparations. According to the head of state, it is needed to step up work with the population in constituencies, provide assistance in the resolution of topical issues to local authorities.
Such measures should help attract active and skilled people to the new parliament, such people who will be able to solve social and economic development issues in the country. Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that this is the work for the state and in this case there is no need to show any unclear democracy.
“Our responsibility is very high because we are elected by people,” the President said. Aleksandr Lukashenko was satisfied with the work of the current MPs. At the same time, he added that he will do his best to attract even more professional people to the parliament. The President urged Vladimir Andreichenko not to lessen the parliamentary control over topical issues, engage MPs in the resolution of these issues despite the National Assembly of this convocation will finish its work this year. The parliament will also have to pass necessary documents.
The President stressed that the Belarusian parliament has always been the so-called school for the personnel. Within four years people receive very good training here. It is inadmissible to lose this personnel reserve. The head of state believes that the most skilled and professional former MPs should be employed in the national economy, administration bodies and other organizations, the head of state said.
The participants of the meeting discussed a wide range of issues. The President was informed about the law-making activities and the preparations for the 9th session of the House of Representatives, its international activities.
