Meeting with Belarusian biathlete Darya Domracheva

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with three-time Olympic biathlon champion, holder of the Hero of Belarus title, UNDP Goodwill Ambassador Darya Domracheva.

Issues of the biathlon development were discussed at the meeting. Aleksandr Lukashenko, in particular, asked how the Belarusian national team is preparing for the next season, and what the state of biathlon facilities in the country is.

The head of state recalled his promises to have some new biathlon facilities complete. These, in particular, include the biathlon track in Raubichy and the Zayachya Polyana ski and biathlon facility. The President said that everything will be ready literally in the next few months. "I have been assured that there will be no problems with the training of the national team and other athletes in general. Everything will be done as we have promised," Aleksandr Lukashenko underlined.

The issues regarding the training of young athletes were raised during the meeting. The President believes it is important that young athletes could have a possibility to train together with famous biathletes. Aleksandr Lukashenko asked Darya Domracheva to help young biathletes adopt the experience of famous athletes. "I will be asking you, and I will also instruct the senior executives in biathlon, to have young athletes train with you. You know, when you train with famous people you can learn a lot from them," he said.

In his words, "this is a great deal when young athletes can come and sometimes train together with the national team." “It raises spirits,” said the President.
