The head of state was also informed about the progress in the preparations for the sessions of the Supreme State Council, the Union State Council of Ministers, and the next forum of Belarusian and Russian regions. Aleksandr Lukashenko reminded about the recent meetings with Russia President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in Sochi. They decided to support the Belarusian economy regardless of how hard the situation in Russia can be,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.

In the context of the development of relations with the West, the President noted that Belarus has never made unrealistic promises to Western partners and will not make them in the future. “Everybody understands that we keep our word. We do not promise anything we are not sure we can do,” the President stressed.

Speaking about the development of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund, the head of state remarked: “If they support Belarus we will be grateful. If not there’s no big deal.” “But we need to talk to them taking into account our position and our promises,” Aleksandr Lukashenko added and expressed confidence that the IMF will understand this position. The President underlined that the IMF does not make unclear or unnecessary proposals to Belarus. “We will fulfill their proposals in spite of all possible difficulties,” the head of state concluded.
