Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed
the heads of Belarus’ diplomatic missions in China and Georgia.
Kirill Rudy has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the People's Republic of China.
Mikhail Myatlikov has been appointed to the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Georgia.
With regard to China, it is difficult to overestimate that country. This is the future of the entire planet. Once, when I was an MP, I talked about this in Parliament. But they did not listen. The country has been developing rapidly, Aleksandr Lukashenko said. The Belarusian President stressed that Belarus and China have established friendly relations of a strategic nature. “Over the years and even decades, we have managed to show China that we are a reliable partner. This is the main thing for them,” he said.
“We need a breakthrough in our relations. We need to not just take the relations with the People’s Republic of China to the next level, but shift them into a new orbit. You see that they are ready for this. I see that they walk in our direction with an open heart. I have very close, friendly relations with China’s leadership, with the past one and especially with the incumbent head of state,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
The Belarusian leader emphasized that the Belarusian side should be ready to make prompt use of the opportunities opening up in the bilateral cooperation. “You should make sure that the most daring initiatives in the Belarus-China relations get implemented,” Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized.
“They will always remember about us and make decisions, if we make targeted efforts in the right direction. Then we will arrive at a result. If we do it as usual, we will get the usual result. But you understand that I will not tolerate lack of effort either from the embassy, or from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This is our future, if we have such relations with China. You can feel and realize the burden of responsibility on your shoulders,” the Belarusian leader said addressing Kirill Rudy.
The head of state also gave instructions regarding the preparation of the forthcoming state visit to China, which is expected to take place in late September 2016.
Speaking about Georgia, the head of state noted that this is a traditionally friendly country. “They are our brothers. We lived in one country. We have preserved very good relations. Our visit testifies to this,” the Belarusian leader stressed.
“Georgia pursues the policy which is, let’s say, different from our policy. But it is the right of any country to choose foreign and domestic policies. In this situation, we needed to find common ground. And we did,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.
The President gave instructions to raise the trade with Georgia up to $200 million.
Aleksandr Lukashenko approved the appointment of Vladimir Mironovich to the post of Consul General in Istanbul (Republic of Turkey) and Viktor Cherekhovich to the post of Consul General in New York (United States).
