Independence Day greetings

    Dear compatriots,

I wish you a happy Independence Day!

In the history of any nation there are milestones that determine its destiny and future. 3 July is the day of our glory and honor, memory of the past and pride for the present.

Belarusian people courageously defended their homeland from aggressors. We have made our way toward independence through wars and devastation, through blood and tears of many generations.

A lot has changed in recent years. The country and the people living here have changed. But the desire of every one of us to live in a free and peaceful state remains the same.

Belarusians do not need turmoil, wars and revolutions, speculations on democracy and human rights. We have time-tested ideals and values, and we will not tolerate forced ideas.

Today we can say for sure that the Belarus of the 21st century is a stable country walking a path of independent development.

Belarus is a country of peace and accord. The Belarusian nation is united. We have a common goal, which is to take care of the Fatherland and work hard to reach this goal.

May happiness, health, and wellbeing reign in every home and every family. May our dear Belarus prosper!

    Aleksandr Lukashenko
