Congratulations to staff of Minsk City Hospital No. 1

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has congratulated active and retired employees of Minsk City Hospital No. 1 on the 90th anniversary of the healthcare facility.

Established in 1931 as a university hospital of Belarusian State University, it turned into the BSSR’s best healthcare facility and one of the USSR’s best hospitals three years later, the president said. During the Great Patriotic War, doctors of the hospital risked their lives to save wounded Red Army soldiers and treat civilians, the Belarusian leader recalled.

“Today, your large and friendly team preserves and promotes the best traditions of your predecessors. The hospital employees boast great qualifications and high moral standards, the administration has an active civic stance and a high reputation in the world of medicine. Your fellow medical professionals can draw from your extensive experience and patients can benefit from your knowledge and skills,” the president noted.

Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized that now the hospital, like the entire public health sector, is dealing with the coronavirus pandemic in addition to all kinds of other diseases. “Please accept my sincere words of gratitude for every life saved, selfless work, loyalty to the profession and to the oath of a Belarusian doctor. I wish you good health, new successes, happiness and prosperity,” the president added.
