Women achieve success in every sector of the national economy, with many of them holding leading positions, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he presented state awards on 6 March.

The head of state stressed that today’s meeting marks International Women’s Day. “This day symbolizes profound respect for mothers, wives, sisters, female coworkers and admiration of our loved ones,” the President said. “On this day we thank you for your contribution to the development of the modern Belarusian society, for the role you play in the state construction, economy, industry, culture, and family. The eve of 8 March is a good occasion to honor our women for their outstanding achievements,” the Belarusian leader added.

Attending the event were female representatives of various professions. Aleksandr Lukashenko particularly noted medical workers. The President believes that without their professionalism, solicitous hands and kind hearts, the latest achievements in the Belarusian medicine would have been impossible.

The head of state also stressed the importance of women’s successes in commerce and catering, communications, banking, light and food industries.

“Women are the heart of family. But they are also the defenders of the motherland, peace and order in our society. Today more and more of our female compatriots find calling in the army, police, customs, and the Emergencies Ministry. Most public servants are representatives of the fair sex,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

The Belarusian President praises the contribution of women to the preservation and enrichment of the national cultural legacy. He said that women play an important role in the development of education and science, physical training and sport. “Outstanding sport and scientific achievements of our women glorify the country,” the Belarusian leader is convinced.

The President of Belarus thanked workers of the social service sector as it is impossible to overestimate the role of women in matters of charity and helping those in need.

“I thank you that you make our world better by your labor, talent and kindness,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “In creative and public activities, in the manufacturing industry and public service you are the source of new ideas, the source of creative force and prowess to find optimal solutions in the most difficult situations. But whatever your professional achievements are, you never forget about the most important things, namely your families, health, and wellbeing of your kith and kin. You are the keepers of hearth and home,” he added.

The head of state emphasized that he is sincerely glad to see the Belarusian women honored with the Order of Mother at the meeting. “Maternity and the care of children are God-given noble missions of women,” Aleksandr Lukashenko believes.

The President expressed hope that the state awards will be a good Women’s Day present which will demonstrate profound respect and love for all women of Belarus.
