Commentary to Decree No. 54 of 29 January 2014
On 29 January President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko signed Decree No. 54 “Concerning one-time financial aid”.
In connection with the 70th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from Nazi invasion financial aid will be provided to all veterans of the Great Patriotic War, family members of soldiers, fighters of irregular forces and underground members who died or were missing in action during the Great Patriotic War, persons disabled from childhood due to injuries, concussions and mutilations caused during the Great Patriotic War or connected with its aftermath, former prisoners of concentration camps, jails, ghettos and other places of forced imprisonment established by the Nazi and their allies during the Great Patriotic War. Their pensions will be increased in line with the legislation.
Heroes of the Soviet Union, recipients of the Order of Honor 1st, 2nd and 3rd Class, Heroes of Socialist Labor who received this honorary title during the Great Patriotic War will be given financial aid in the amount of Br10 million.
Financial aid to the tune of Br8 million will be provided to disabled soldiers and participants of the Great Patriotic War who were members of the special forces partaking in mine lifting after the liberation from Nazi invasion.
Persons decorated with orders and medals of the USSR for selfless labor or impeccable military service in the rear during the Great Patriotic War, workers of facilities located within rear boundaries of the battlefield will receive financial aid in the amount of Br3.5 million.
