Graduates of higher military education institutions should utilize their knowledge and experience for the sake of raising the effectiveness and ensuring the national security. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the statement during the ceremony held on 7 July to congratulate graduates of higher military education institutions and top-ranking officers.
Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that in present conditions it is important to study new forms of warfare and track the ever changing situation across the globe. “We see that armed clashes occur in the Middle East, North Africa, and our brotherly Ukraine. The activity of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Eastern Europe raises serious concerns,” stated the President.
He went on saying that methods and forms of warfare have changed greatly and power-wielding agencies of Belarus should develop rapidly and keep up with the times. “This is why the national defense system needs to be constantly improved. After assuming your duties in your designated stations you will have to prioritize the accomplishment of this task on a daily basis,” Aleksandr Lukashenko told the graduates. In his words, the graduates should utilize all their knowledge and experience for the sake of raising the effectiveness and ensuring the national security. The Belarusian head of state pointed out: “In addition to securing our sovereignty we tightly cooperate with partners in the Union State [of Belarus and Russia] and the Collective Security Treaty Organization.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko said that the efficiency and quality of education at Belarusian military universities is acknowledged abroad. The fact that the representatives of the Armed Forces from other countries are interested in the training in Belarus testifies to that. “During all international meetings my counterparts ask us to help train the national personnel of the Armed Forces. This pertains to not only the post-Soviet space. These are the biggest counties in the world. They appreciate the level of training, the absence of formalism,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed. The cost of education plays a special role, but the main things are the quality and level of training of those who come to study in Belarus,” the head of state added.
The President noted that Belarus pays special attention to the quality of officers’ training. Painstaking construction of a reliable defense system coupled with the creation of a mobile, highly professional and efficient army that will be able to counter any modern threats has been the top priority over the course of the two decades of Belarus’ development as a sovereign state.
“The profession of the Fatherland defender has always been respected in our society. It was confirmed in the year of the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory when the whole nation honored the liberators who have passed glorious traditions to us,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
At the solemn meeting held on 7 July the President handed over general’s shoulder boards to the officers of the Armed Forces, the State Security Committee, the State Forensics Committee, prosecution bodies. The head of state also presented special letters of thanks to a number of graduates of military universities for academic excellence, exemplary fulfillment of military duty. Aleksandr Lukashenko wished them to be good defenders of the Fatherland.
