Belarusian Transport Prosecutor’s Office disestablished from 1 December 2014

On 1 October President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko signed decree No. 463 to disestablish the Belarusian Transport Prosecutor’s Office on 1 December 2014.

Its functions will be vested upon the Prosecutor General's Office and regional prosecutor’s offices. Specialized transport prosecutor’s offices subordinate to the Belarusian Transport Prosecutor’s Office will be operated by oblast prosecutor’s offices.

Local transport prosecutor’s offices will audit the compliance with legislation at transport facilities and the observation of laws by internal affairs bodies in the transport industry.

This reorganization aims to improve the system of prosecution bodies and to reduce the number of personnel.

The decree will help decrease the size of budget assignments for the maintenance of the prosecution bodies by Br312 million in 2014 and by Br2.2 billion every consecutive year.
