Aleksandr Lukashenko signs decree on getting higher education in cultural institutions of Russia
On 13 June President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko signed the decree “Concerning a number of issues of getting higher education in cultural institutions of the Russian Federation”.
For many years graduates of Belarusian cultural colleges have had an opportunity to get higher education in the leading cultural universities of Russia where there are many globally recognized creative schools and highly-qualified pedagogues.
However, in line with the new Education Code of the Republic of Belarus, graduates of Belarusian cultural colleges who completed state-funded education programs get a two-year mandatory job placement after graduation. The norm applies to all such students except for those who embarked on education in Belarusian institutions of higher learning. In case students do not want a job placement they have to repay funds spent on their training.
Such a situation made it impossible for the Belarusian talented youth to get higher education in the Russian Federation.
In order to resolve the problem, the decree envisages that aforementioned graduates of Belarusian cultural colleges who were awarded by the special fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus to support the talented youth, are winners of international and national creative contests and Olympiads will have to get a mandatory job placement after they graduate from Russian universities.
The mechanism will strengthen social security of graduates and guarantee that talented young people will return to Belarus after they graduate from Russian universities.
