Aleksandr Lukashenko sends greetings to participants of Minsk book fair
Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent
greetings to the participants of the 24th Minsk International Book
Fair, the international literary symposium entitled Writer and Time.
“Literature plays a crucial role in the resolution of national tasks, preservation of the spiritual legacy, promotion of the dialogue of cultures,” the head of state noted. “Your large-scale forum is a respectable platform for sharing ideas; it brings together many guests from neighboring and distant countries.”
According to the president, it is symbolic that thanks to the book fair the 500th anniversary of East Slavic book printing becomes the issue of international importance. Our fellow countryman Francysk Skaryna printed The Psalter in the Old Belarusian language adding the fist page to the history of Belarus’ book printing five centuries ago.
Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed confidence that the event will help promote the development of book printing and enrich national literary traditions.
