Aleksandr Lukashenko sends birthday greetings to Metropolitan Filaret

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has sent a letter of birthday greetings to Filaret, Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus.

"Since the beginning of your clerical service Belarus has witnessed a true blossom of the Orthodox culture. Churches and monasteries are being restored, spiritual education is being developed," the congratulatory message runs.

"Committed spiritual service, wisdom and experience have brought you authority in the Orthodox world. I am convinced that for many years you will work for the benefit of Belarus and Christianity," the President noted.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Metropolitan Filaret health, success, happiness and optimism.
