Aleksandr Lukashenko sends anniversary greetings to Gomel Oblast

I congratulate you on the 75^th anniversary of the establishment of Gomel Oblast. During this period of time the region developed a lot and helped include a number of remarkable pages in the country’s history.

The main treasure of the region has always been talented, hard-working people of strong spirit. You succeeded in rebuilding economy after the Great Patriotic War and overcame consequences of the global man-made calamity – the Chernobyl disaster.

Every year your efforts help multiply the wellbeing of the country and its citizens. Gomel Oblast plays a crucial role in the economic development of Belarus and helps promote trade with other countries.

You make a big contribution to the cultural life of the country. You cherish the memory of outstanding compatriots; do your best to preserve unique centuries-old traditions of Polesye.

I am convinced that the history of the Belarusian land will be enriched with good deeds of our contemporaries, today’s residents of Gomel Oblast.
