Aleksandr Lukashenko meets with OAC Head Sergei Shpegun
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko held a working meeting with Sergei Shpegun, Head of the Operations and Analysis Center (OAC) under the President of the Republic of Belarus, on 16 January.
They discussed the establishment of the nationwide information platform that will incorporate backbone network transferring information to the nationwide data processing center.
The OAC head informed that the backbone network is being mounted; the works are to be finished in December 2014. The establishment of the nationwide data processing center will be completed by the end of 2015. The work is conducted within the framework of the investment project estimated at about $300 million.
The platform is constructed using modern technologies and will meet all international standards.
The work of the national center of electronic services was also discussed. The center will be responsible for inter-agency e-document flow.
Sergei Shpegun explained that various economic operators, industries and ministries implemented information technologies on their own, but their expenses on telecommunication equipment and its servicing were huge. “The state will save on equipment and servicing by creating a common platform,” he noted.
Belarus’ services related to international traffic were also on the agenda. “We get money for that and the money is not bad. However, specialists keep saying that we lose a lot because of illegal traffic. You suggest some system to control it and at the same time you are trying to convince me that this will not do any harm to our country and we will be able to increase budget revenues. Of course, we definitely need to combat this kind of traffic, and our budget revenues should increase. I want you to inform me in detail about the matter,” the Belarusian President said.
Aleksandr Lukashenko ordered to keep working on the promotion and improvement of information services, so that Belarus will meet modern-day requirements in the ICT field.
