Aleksandr Lukashenko meets with First Secretary of BRSM Central Committee Igor Buzovsky

President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Igor Buzovsky, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the public organization Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM), on 10 December.

“Some may like it or not but at present about half a million people are real members of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union, who have membership cards and pay fees. The fees may be small. We don’t need large ones. Those, who want to help, can do it. Fees are not the point but the real number of people is,” he said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said he believes that BRSM just like the public organization Belaya Rus represents a valuable source of manpower. “As far as the State Security Committee, the Interior Ministry, all the law enforcement agencies are concerned, we will make a BRSM recommendation mandatory for working in these agencies and therefore we are going to strengthen the role of the youth organization in this regard,” the President said.

The President emphasized that the organization came up with many interesting and useful projects and initiatives for the youth and the country in general. They include student construction brigades, voluntary patrol units, and many more. According to the head of state, the legislation should uphold the work of patrol units and give them a more serious status.

Aleksandr Lukashenko believes that initiatives like “100 ideas for Belarus” and other projects in culture should not be on-time campaigns anymore, but should become permanent projects.

Aleksandr Lukashenko and Igor Buzovsky reviewed the activities of BRSM in recent years and development prospects of the organization.

Igor Buzovsky emphasized that the organization has been working to become more efficient and useful for the youth and the country.

“I hope that the objectives we have set, the support provided for BRSM will be justified not only by the activists, not only by the organization’s members, but also by all interested people, some of who, probably, cannot be called young people any more, but who want to make Belarus a prosperous, strong and beautiful country. We will do it by joint efforts, in particular, having such support of the head of state,” Igor Buzovsky said.
