Aleksandr Lukashenko meets with Andrei Kobyakov and Sergei Rumas 

    President of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Head of the Belarus President Administration Andrei Kobyakov and Belarus’ representative at the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission Sergei Rumas on 22 October.Aleksandr Lukashenko reminded that the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the session of the CIS Council of Heads of State will be held in Minsk on 24-25 October.Speaking about the forthcoming CIS summit, the President noted that the matter was discussed with Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee - CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev. “I assume the agenda of the summit and all the materials have already been prepared,” the head of state said.Speaking about the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council, Aleksandr Lukashenko asked to inform him about the essence of the matters that will be discussed by the heads of state. “After all, these are the most challenging issues, because some of them are at the preparation stage in connection with the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union that is to become operational on 1 January 2015,” the President said.Aleksandr Lukashenko asked about the progress in drafting the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty. “I think this process will not be easy, because it will involve economic and financial interests of the Customs Union member states. It also has to do with big-time politics. What is the position of our partners – Russia and Kazakhstan?” the President asked.The head of state suggested discussing a number of other topical issues in the run-up to the summit, including the ones that caused disagreements among the partners.
