Aleksandr Lukashenko hears out report of Belarus' Prosecutor General

    On 9 April Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Prosecutor General Alexander Konyuk to receive his report.

    The head of state was informed about the crime situation in the country and the formation of the Investigation Committee.

    According to Alexander Konyuk, in Q1 2012 the number of registered crimes, including grave crimes, reduced. Less people died from criminal offences or man-made accidents.

    The President was also informed about a number of criminal cases. In the near future the Prosecutor General's Office jointly with the State Security Committee and other law enforcement bodies will step up efforts to fight against illegal export of potash fertilizers.

    Moreover, Aleksandr Lukashenko is scheduled to take part in the session to discuss basis aspects of the operation of public prosecution bodies.
