Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko gave an interview to Turkmenistan’s mass media on 7 October.
The head of state was interviewed by editor-in-chief of the international magazine Turkmenistan Mikhail Pereplesnin.
The President answered a number of questions regarding the current state and prospects of the Belarus-Turkmenistan cooperation in trade, economy, the manufacturing sector, transit and transport, joint education and training of qualified personnel for the hi-tech industries of the two economies.
The interview focused on the landmark projects of Belarus-Turkmenistan cooperation. The most important of them is the project to build the Garlyk mining and processing factory for the production of potash fertilizers in Turkmenistan by the Belarusian side.
“The construction of the above-ground part is in the final stage, we will finish it soon. I think, in 12-18 months we will build underground facilities as well. We will build a modern plant which will make you proud. We can do it. We have recently built two similar factories in Belarus in these conditions. And it will become a symbol of our relations,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “In spite of all the difficulties, we are glad that Turkmenistan has chosen Belarus for the implementation of this project,” he added.
