Greetings to participants of the 21st Minsk International Book Fair

    Dear friends,

I extend my best greetings to the participants and guests of the 21st Minsk International Book Fair.

At all times the book has had a special significance in people’s lives. It inspired, gave hope, was a pivotal source of knowledge, nurtured kindness and cultivated the best moral qualities. And today, in the era of advanced technologies, the book remains for us a teacher and a reliable adviser; it renders inestimable support in work and is an ideal companion in leisure time.

Over the past two decades the Belarusian book publishing industry has been developed. Belarusian books cover a wide range of themes and genres, boast original typography. Books of classical authors and our contemporaries are available in shops.

I am convinced that in the Year of Hospitality the international book fair will open up new prospects for the cultural and business cooperation, will become a true landmark on the book market.

I wish successful work and unforgettable impressions to the participants of the book fair, interesting discoveries to all readers.

    Aleksandr Lukashenko
